Xbox 360 FAQ

Which power supply does my Xbox 360 need?

This might seem like a simple question to ask, but truthfully there were a ton of different Xbox 360 versions, and almost as many power supplies. This quick guide will show you which power supply works for which console. So let's get into it.

For the Xbox 360 S and E

The Xbox 360 S and E consoles use the same type of power supply among themselves. The E uses a generic power cord while the S uses the same power brick and supply no matter the version. As long as you buy a power supply listed as an Xbox 360 S supply, then you should be fine.

Understanding the wattage's

The Xbox 360 fat power supply situation is a bit more tricky. In fact, you need to know what version you have. If you don't know which Xbox 360 phat version you have, then check out This guide on how to identify which Xbox 360 phat console you have. Once you know that, you need to know which power supply you can use. I will break each of the three down now.

203W power supply

The 203W power supply was the first used. This power supply was made to fit the Xenon and Zephyr versions of the console. However, the 203W power supply is considered somewhat universal, as this power supply can safely power every version. Other console versions have slight differences in the connector/port on the back of the console and may need slight modification. There is a small plastic piece that protrudes in the middle of the connector that can be pulled out. Once that is removed you only need the 203W power supply.

175W power supply

The 175W power supply was used on the Opus and Falcon versions of the Xbox 360 phat console. Just as the 203W power supply works with all versions, the 175W would also work on consoles that use the 150W as well.

150W Power supply

While the Xbox 360 150W power supply uses the least power and is the most efficient, this power brick was only able to work on Jasper versions of the console. This power supply will not work on any other version.
