This is operator error
This original Xbox error is always caused by someone tinkering inside without following the proper steps. The 06 error is caused when a proper hard drive that is correctly locked is installed in the console, but doesn't match the motherboard key. Essentially someone had another HDD, either from a different original Xbox console, or one lying around that happened to be locked. They installed that HDD inside this console hoping it would work. If you tried this, remove that HDD and reinstall the one originally inside the console. You would need to modify the console via soft mods or hard mods to do this, and the drive would also need to start unlocked to do so.
If you bought an original Xbox console that had the 06 error, you would be in a tough spot. Without the original hard drive you can't do much with the motherboard or the HDD. You would need to Buy a replacement motherboard with a matched HDD like one of these and replace the old one with the new one. This would essentially be your only hope of saving the console and getting rid of your original Xbox 06 error.
