One of the originals!

One of the first original Xbox custom cases I made, this became a fan favorite and was popular enough that I started having lots of fans and viewers asking me how to get one too!

The case design

I think the original Xbox is one of the most difficult consoles to design a custom case for. The way the case is set up automatically limits the window designs I can use and also limits the space I have to cut them. For the longest time I designed original Xbox custom cases that fought against the design of the console instead of working with it, such as forcing detailed designs in the small areas there are to work with, etc. Usually the design was cluttered and took away from the over-all look. This also led to many companies offering case replacements that were completely clear. I also did not like those because they were cheap. The screw holes for the case snapped and broke off easily, basically any sort of accident meant the case would be cracked. Even slight cracks were very visible because the case is completely clear. That combined with the fact that they were pretty expensive just made those an undesirable option. That is what led me to the design of this original Xbox custom case! The four window cut outs work with the console design instead of against it, and I use original case tops instead of cheap 3rd party clone cases that are unreliable. This case became so popular that I designed a pre-made case kit that you can install yourself with ease!

The LED lights

Now, the case was done but here I was in the same position as I was before, I was having issues with led kits for my original Xbox custom case! Most of the kits were AWFUL. They used no more than 4 tiny LED lights that were barely bright enough to use as a reading light. They were really designed for people who bought those cheap clear cases. (Yes the ones that break apart as I mentioned above) So, instead of dealing with it and spending $25 dollars or more an LED kit that was total crap, I went to the drawing board and designed my own! There are several really cool ideas I used but here are the most important. My LED kits use 12 LED lights instead of a pathetic 4. I also split the lights into 4 sections. The big benefit about this is that I could mount them evenly spaced inside the custom case. This meant the console was very well lit up. I also did not have a few areas lit up well and then a few that were not, everything was nice and even. I started to have alot of viewers contact me asking where I got the LED kit for this original Xbox custom case, which is why I began making them for you guys too!
