An error about errors
More times than not I find this error code comes from an operator error. If attempting to mod or flash your original Xbox console, you can get this error if something goes wrong. This could also be an HDD error as well, so let's dig right into it.
Bad hard drive
If you have the E71 error code on your Xbox 360 console, first try removing the hard drive and booting up the system. If the console boots up properly without the error code, then you need to replace it!
Bad mods
I typically see the E71 error code on a console someone has attempted to mod. If you have attempted a NAND flash you will need to start over from scratch. Rebuild the NAND and then reflash it. If you aren't a modder and just acquired this console, then you may be out of luck. I would suggest getting a replacement motherboard to solve the problem.
